A slice of Pondlife

Rehearsals are under way for my short play 'Pondlife': a ten minute comedy/drama set in a suburban garden. Bob and Geoff are friends who think they know each other well, but Geoff is hiding a guilty secret. What really happened to Terry? One day, two strangers arrive and cause ripples around the pond. Did I mention Bob and Geoff are garden gnomes?

Pondlife will be performed on Sunday 22 August as part of 'Players at the Pub', an afternoon of three short comedy plays performed in the garden of The New Inn, Middleton Cheney, by Lynden Players.

The idea behind the event was to ease back into live shows with small casts, rehearsing and performing outside. We have deliberately chosen plays where the characters and situation don't rely on complex staging or effects - perfect for an afternoon in the pub garden! The other two plays are:

All by Myself by Robert Scott "Seven years alone on an island after his shipwreck have driven Larry to the edge of sanity, but that's nothing compared to the shock of discovering he's not - and never has been - alone! "

Speed Date by Janet Allard " It's Valentine's Day and the pressure is on in a round-robin game of speed dating. A room full of hopeful (hopeless?) romantics: they're desperate, chatty, needy, strange - and the clock is ticking. Will they find love before time runs out?"

The Lynden Players have been meeting via zoom since March 2020, so it has been great to catch up in person. We are giddy with excitement to be in front of an audience again.

The fun starts at 3.00pm. Drinks will be available from the bar- we will also be serving tea and cakes and home baked goodies. Admission is FREE, however you are invited to make a donation. Note: We will be moving to the barn in the unlikely event of rain!
